Holiday Craft Show Kicks Off Seasonal Activities In Fairfax City

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Even though many early birds were putting up their Christmas lights the day after Halloween — if they waited that long — Thanksgiving is generally considered the unofficial start of the holiday season.

Here are some of the holiday events happening in November and December in the Fairfax City area:

Holiday Craft Show: More than 200 craft and food vendors will be returning to the City of Fairfax for the 36th Annual Holiday Craft Show. Sponsored by Fair City Mall, this year’s craft show takes place Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 am-5 pm, and Sunday, from 10 am-3 pm, at Fairfax High School, located at 3501 Lion run in the City of Fairfax.

2022 Fairfax Turkey Trot 5K: Come and work up an appetite for your big Thanksgiving Day dinner. the 5K race will take place 9 am-11 am, on Thursday, Nov. 24, at Fire Station 3, which is located at 4081 University Drive in Fairfax. The race will run through Old Town Fairfax and George Mason University. Register for the race online.

Fairfax City Holiday Market: During the first two weekends in December, the Holiday Market will be open on Old Town Square, which is located at 10415 North St., in Old Town Fairfax. Enjoy holiday music and crafts, with different craft vendors will sell their wares each weekend, Dec. 2-4 and Dec. 9-11. Holiday Market hours are Fridays, 5-8 pm; Saturdays, 12-6 p.m.; and Sundays, 12-5 pm

2022 Festival of Lights and Carols: Fair City Mall is hosting the annual tree lighting and caroling event from 12-6 pm, on Dec. 3, in Old Town Square, which is located at 10415 North St. in Fairfax City. Stroll through the holiday market and enjoy s’mores and hot cider. Lend your voice to the holiday carols being sung as part of the 5:30 pm, Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

Lunch With Santa: Children are invited to have their photo taken with Santa and enjoy a lunch of chicken nuggets, fruit, a juice box and a cookie on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Old Town Hall, 3999 University Drive, in Fairfax. Tickets can be purchased at the following Parks and Rec facilities: City Hall, Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center, Green Acres or online. Seatings offered are 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm
