A job advert allowing people the chance to be Santa Claus in the North East has popped up online – giving people plenty of laughs at the requirements for the job role.
The job ad, which was posted on job site Indeed on behalf of Fenwick department store in Newcastle, appeared on the internet at the start of the week with a full description of what is required if people were to take the important job position.
Every year, the Newcastle-based store has several Santas to attend the shop and entertain shoppers – and this year, they’re looking for their next batch of hopefuls.

In the job advert, the description starts by saying: “We pride ourselves on being at the heart of Christmas in our stores, and this year promises to be a magical one.
“Join our team as ‘the big man himself’ and work with our mischievous elves to deliver an immersive Christmas family experience.”
Despite the in-depth job advert, it’s the Inclusion of ‘temporary contract’ that has left people in hysterics – while a pay scale of £18 per hour has got others interested in taking up the offer.
The fact that the contract is three months long has also left many baffled wondering what the perfect Santa would do for the other two months.
If you are the successful candidate, Fenwick states that you will be based in the Christmas Grotto in your very own ‘Santa Cabin’ 24 hours per week – while you will be working alongside Santa’s elves to deliver a magical festive experience.
The job advert continues: “If you love all things Christmas, getting into character and working with children, we would love to hear from you
“Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.”
And if you don’t look like Santa, the store has got you covered, by adding: “Don’t look like Santa, don’t worry! We provide full uniform; our costumes are amazing.”
