People getting fired up about fire hall craft fair

  • by

No one’s counting the last two years of COVID so the last Saturday of November will mark the 27th annual Chemainus Fire Hall craft fair.

People were suffering withdrawal symptoms from missing the popular event in 2020 and 2021, but it’s back on again for Saturday, Nov. 26 at the fire hall at 9901 Chemainus Rd. from 10 am to 3 pm It all takes place inside the main hall room and truck bays.

“All money that we raise goes towards our Chemainus grad bursary fund,” pointed out spokesperson Fiona Constable.

There will be more than 60 craft fair vendors, all with home-created items, and no commercial sales.

A raffle is also part of the fun fundraising, with prizes donated from not just the community, but around the island.

There’s always some great items available in the bake sale and a concession will be open as well.

Constable added the fire department has partnered this year with David Key, the owner of the Great Canadian Dollar store in Chemainus.

“He has been putting on monthly craft fairs at the Chemainus Village Square to bring people into our community,” Constable pointed out.

On the same day, Key will be having a craft fair and pictures with Santa inside the lobby of the Chemainus Island Savings Credit Union. All proceeds from that event will be donated to the fire department’s bursary funds.
