Strathmore Dodge fundraiser a tremendous success for Wheatland Crisis Society! – StrathmoreNow.com

There were 479 meals served and over $1,520 raised for the Wheatland Crisis Society (WCS) during Strathmore Dodge’s Strathmore Stampede kick-off party this summer.

On Thursday, representatives from Strathmore Dodge and Mike’s Bar and Grill came together to present the donation to the crisis society.

Strathmore Dodge General Manager Trevor Gonsalves said, β€œIt was great to see an amazing turnout.”

“For us, it’s about giving back. Our entire business model is based on everyone being family, and it’s not always good times. It’s not always the perfect solution or the perfect situation and I think drawing attention to that, being there to support everybody, all families, especially when it goes wrong, That’s what Wheatland Crisis Society is all about. Being able to contribute to that with this event means the world to us,” he said.

The event had live music courtesy of country recording artist Ryan Lindsay, the famous brisket from Mike’s Bar and Grill, cowboys and cowgirls from the Strathmore Stampede and more.

Business Development / Communications Specialist Wheatland Crisis Society Natasha Fyfe spoke about how the funds will help support the organization.

“Since 2015 our government funding has not increased at all and our need in the community has increased almost 400% this year,” she said.

“When we do little events like this our community shows us how much they appreciate us. We’ve been here since 1993 and we’ve had unwavering support. Money that comes from fundraising goes to keep our programs running for people who are staying in the shelter. So we don’t just provide a house and food and safety, we provide different programming for clients based on their needs,” she said.

Gonsalves explained that their support of the shelter doesn’t stop at this one event.

“It’s about taking care of people long term. And we’ve already looked into sponsorship opportunities for different events.” He said the dealership is already looking to support the Wheatland Crisis Society at the end of August.

“Any way anyone can contribute, please visit their website and donate to a great cause,” he said.
