TULSA, Okla. — Hold on to your hairdos! There’s a new beauty parlor in T-Town called Tulsa Hair Society.

With hundreds of hair salons in the Tulsa metro offering similar services, what sets this one apart?

Owner Samantha Harris-Sainsbury has been doing hair for 18 years and says she is cultivating a no-drama culture at the Tulsa Hair Society.

“Too many times I have worked for a salon that has taken advantage and was a toxic environment with high turnover. I wanted to create a diverse atmosphere that allows stylists to grow their own personal business, stylists who lean on each other and help each other,” said Harris-Sainsbury. “We are all independent contractors at this time, but that does not stop us from promoting each other’s business. We support each other as women in this industry as mothers, and business owners.”

Harris-Sainsbury adds that the salon currently offers skincare, waxing, lash extensions, hair extensions, haircuts, styling, and hair color and even specializes in cuts and hair care for curly hair.

“We do cater to the curly girls and teach them how to style their naturally curly hair instead of blowing their curls out to a straight style,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

There are currently three drama-free team members at the Tulsa Hair Society.

“Everyone on my team was hand-picked because of their drive. They are all self-starters, positive personalities, and excited for growth,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

According to Harris-Sainsbury, Kalina Vang, is an inspiration to work alongside.

“I love that she knows exactly what she wants to do and that her passion is hair color and she is amazing with it,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

Emonie Henry is the second member of Harris-Sainsbury’s dream team.

“This girl has taken me by storm. She came in hot and ready to build her career. She is a go-getter and put in the hard work to make her dream of owning her own suite a reality,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

Lauren Perez is a long-time friend of Harris-Sainsbury and is the third team member.

“Everyone feels like Lauren’s station is the most decorated. She wears her heart on her sleep, and wants every client to walk out the door with happy, positive feelings,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

Tulsa Hair Society will be celebrating its grand opening on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m

“We will have door prizes, face paint, we are going to raffle off some big in-salon services and will be doing some feather extensions and tinsel extensions. We will have multiple vendors there including The Succulent Shop and Linked Permanent Jewelry,” said Harris-Sainsbury. “I am looking forward to connecting with the community, spreading awareness about who we are as a salon and what we stand for. We are an inclusive place.”

Harris-Sainsbury says her most influential mentor is her husband.

“He could see my value before anyone else including myself and has always encouraged me to dream bigger, and take control of my career,” said Harris-Sainsbury.

After years of working for other businesses in the hair industry, she finally decided to open up her own beauty shop with no more drama queens. Harris-Sainsbury says that Tulsa Hair Society was inspired for the dream queens.
